Privacy Policy
Znateka is a flashcard app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. This policy explains what data the app uses and how it is handled.
Data stored by the app
Znateka stores the cards, categories, review progress, images, audio recordings, tickets, and app settings that you create. By default this data is stored on your device.
Sync providers
If you enable sync, your data may be sent to the sync provider you choose, such as iCloud, Google Drive, or Yandex Disk. Those services process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.
AI features
AI Fill generates card definitions, wrong answers, and usage examples. You choose how it works, and the choice determines where your text goes. Whichever option is active, what leaves your device is the card question, its answers, or the source text needed for that specific request — never your whole collection.
Apple Intelligence
Processed entirely on your device. No card content is sent anywhere.
Znateka AI
The built-in option that works without any setup. Your request goes to a server operated by Znateka, which forwards it to an AI model provider and returns the result. Znateka runs two such servers and the app uses whichever is reachable from your network: one hosted on Cloudflare, used worldwide, and one hosted on Yandex Cloud in Russia, used where the first is unavailable.
The model provider depends on which server handled the request. The Cloudflare server sends requests to OpenAI, whose API terms exclude submitted content from being used to train their models. The Yandex Cloud server sends requests to DeepSeek, which processes and stores data in China and whose API terms permit the use of submitted content for model training. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.
For ordinary daily-limited AI Fill, Znateka stores a random identifier that the app generates for your device — it is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID — together with a count of how many requests that identifier made on a given day. Znateka does not store the content or result of those ordinary AI Fill requests. Platform providers may keep their own technical logs of the connection.
For Znateka Intelligence, which is included in the Premium subscription, Znateka stores a pseudonymous App Store app-transaction identifier together with the number of course cards left in the current calendar month (UTC), so that one monthly allowance is shared across your Apple devices. Your subscription is confirmed each time from a signed App Store receipt: Znateka keeps no purchase or refund history and no permanent balance. The selected source text is not stored. A generated draft is cached for up to seven days solely so that retrying an interrupted request does not use up the allowance twice, then marked for automatic deletion.
Your own provider
If you configure OpenAI or another OpenAI-compatible service with your own API key, or a model server you run yourself, requests go from your device directly to that service. Znateka's servers are not involved and receive nothing.
Your control
Before the first request that leaves your device, Znateka explains what will be sent and asks for your permission. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → AI, which returns AI processing to Apple Intelligence. Because AI requests are processed by third parties, please do not put sensitive personal information into cards you generate with an external provider.
Retention and deletion
The daily request counter used by Znateka AI expires automatically within two days and is not kept afterwards.
Monthly allowance records are marked for deletion 90 days after the month they belong to; they reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC). Cached generation drafts are marked for deletion after seven days; infrastructure deletion may occur later.
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in Znateka or remove the app. If you enable sync, copies remain with the selected provider according to that provider’s retention and backup rules. You can stop future sync in the app and revoke Znateka’s access in the provider account. To remove synchronized copies, delete the relevant data and follow the provider’s deletion controls.
Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer and resolve the request. You may ask us to delete a support conversation by emailing the address below.
Payments
Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Znateka does not receive or store your payment card details.
Support
If you contact support, we receive the email address and message content you send. Please do not include sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.
